Active Organized Dynamics

Active organized dynamics are the operating flows, transitions, feedback relations, timing relations, and coordinated processes through which an organization currently realizes a system-level property.

A static substrate can preserve the capacity to regenerate a property without actively manifesting that property now.

Examples:

  • an aircraft can preserve the capacity for flight while parked;
  • a computational system can preserve parameters while powered down;
  • a living system can enter a strongly suppressed state while preserving organization relevant to later resumption.

The distinction is:

capacity-supporting organization ≠ current active manifestation

This is important for public discussions of life, intelligence, persistence, and recovery.
